Sewing machine stitch plate

A stitch plate of a sewing machine is of one the most forgotten part that can also cause problems with thread and needle breakage. The hole where the needle runs through can get quite damaged on the inside of the hole where the needle runs through due to frequent use of your sewing machine or frequent sewing of thick fabrics. These pulls cause the thread to break, the thread gets stuck behind such damage or the thread stretches as a result. The damage is often caused by wrong sewing machine needles being used. When using thin needles and your sewing thick fabric, your needle is more likely to break on the stitch plate. Always match your needle to the correct fabric.

If you use too thin needles you are often going to help transport the fabric causing the needle to warp on the stitch plate, this causes the damage to the stitch plate.
Also when using cheap branded needles the stitch plate can be damaged considerably this is due to the fact that these needles are less likely to break and remain bent causing the point to rub against the stitch plate.

Polishing the hole of the stitch plate is often not an option because polishing the hole makes it bigger and when sewing thin fabric the fabric is pulled inside. So if the stitch plate is badly damaged we always recommend a new stitch plate.

Standard Stitch Plate

Suitable for an exceptionally wide range of projects. The Standard stitch plate is particularly used for sewing decorative and zigzag stitches.

Straight stitch stitch plate

Uses the straight stitch in the center position. The straight stitch plate provides a more stable stitch. The smaller opening is ideal for processing fine fabrics.

Punch stitch plate

This stitch plate is specially designed with a special opening for punching (felting), The opening prevents material from being pulled down with the needle.

CutWork Stitch Plate

The CutWork stitch plate has a slightly larger hole compared to the standard straight stitch plate and allowing you to get great results when using a CutWork set.
